Regarding the names of the cats, I (Ron) have a tendency to name them after historical Roman people. The exception to this rule is the cat my wife took with her when she moved in with me.
His name is appropriate for a cat : 'Rakker' which is Dutch for 'Rascal', a name that fits most tomcats.
Marius is named after Gaius Marius the Roman general and he had the same fighting spirit against other cats who 'invaded' the garden of my previous home.
